Finantari pentru „Short Term Scientific Missions”

Please feel free to redistribute this Call for STSMs to researchers from your countries who may be interested. Note that the emphasis is on young researchers (PhD students, postdocs) and on home and host institutions from countries that have signed the Memorandum of Understanding of Action IC0903 MOVE. For a list of these MOVE countries, see here: http://w3.cost.eu/index.php?id=110&action_number=IC0903

Owing to unspent funds in our 2010 budget, MOVE is going to fund additional Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) starting and ending between 15 October and 31 December 2010. We expect to be able to support in the order of 4-6 STSMs in this Call, depending on the funds available and on the number of applications received. Obviously, if the cost per STSM application is lower, then we will be able to satisfy a larger number of requests. Hence, we recommend to prospective applicants to optimize rather than maximize the duration of the STSM and the funds requested.

STSMs allow scientists from any of the MOVE countries to visit an institution in another MOVE country to foster collaboration, learn a new technique or use instruments and/or methods not available in their own institution or laboratory. They should contribute to the scientific objectives of MOVE and are particularly intended for young scientists. More information about STSMs can be found on the MOVE website http://www.move-cost.info (–> STSM) and in the COST Vademecum (Part B, Grant System) available at http://www.cost.eu/participate/guidelines.

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2010. Applicants should register on-line at http://www.cost.esf.org/stsm and send the application form together with the following materials:

– full CV
– detailed work plan
– list of publications
– motivation letter
– letter of support from the home institution
– agreement of the host institution
– any other documents supporting the application (optional)

to Fosca Gianotti fosca.giannotti@isti.cnr.it (STSM Coordinator) and to the future host institution of the STSM. Please send the above materials in a single PDF document.

The applicants will be informed about the approval of the STSM by 30 September 2010. Assessment criteria:
– quality of the proposal
– career prospects and fit with career plan
– age (preference to early stage researchers)
– sex (preference to female researchers)
– level of activity in MOVE (preference for researchers/groups with a record of active participation in the activities of the Action)
– cost (less expensive STSMs receive preference)
